CALGARY – Thursday is a big day for 14-year-old Calgary artist Jack Hornecker, marking the release of a booklet he illustrated for the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.
The booklet, entitled “Once Upon a Childhood,” helps with fundraising efforts by showing recent advances in treatment at the hospital.
Jack knows what a difference that treatment can make, since he spent a week in the hospital suffering from arthritis.
When he was admitted almost two years ago, the severe swelling in his hands made drawing impossible.
Now doing fine, thanks to ongoing treatment, Jack said he’s “grateful to have my health back, so that I can work on such an inspiring project.”
And this may be the first of many books for him, as Jack hopes to make a career of writing and illustrating graphic novels.
