WINNIPEG — A high risk sex offender is set to be released from the Headingley Correctional Centre and police are warning the public.

The Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit, the Winnipeg Police Service and RCMP have released information regarding Winston Thomas.

The 38-year-old will be released from prison and is expected to live in Winnipeg.

Thomas has previous convictions for two counts of sexual assault, two counts of assault, aggravated assault as well as many other criminal offences.

Females of all ages are at risk of sexual violence.

Thomas is described as 5 foot 9, with black hair and brown eyes.

Winston George Thomas is a 38 year-old male with a criminal record for sexual offences, Aggravated Assault, Assault as well as numerous other criminal offences including Break and Enter with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence and Breach of Probation and Recognizance.

He was released from provincial custody on May 6, 2015, after serving a 4 month sentence for breaching the conditions of his probation order for being intoxicated.  On May 25, 2015, he failed to report to his Probation Officer and failed to report for a curfew check and was subsequently arrested and has been in custody since.

Upon release, THOMAS will be subject to the conditions of a supervised Probation Order that expires in September 2017.  The Probation Order includes conditions such as:

  • Not to possess or consume any alcohol, illegal drug, non-prescription drug or any substance that will cause a person, including a mentally or physically disabled female, to become intoxicated;
  • Abide by a curfew of 11:00 pm to 7:00 am unless given special permission in writing, in advance, from your Probation Officers
