Global News partners with Twitter for up-to-the-minute updates on election night
TORONTO – Global News will partner with Twitter Canada to bring results, analysis, and opinions to Canadians on election night.
“We are combining the election experience of Global News journalists with the immediacy of Twitter to provide engaging, real-time insight from political influencers as well as Canadian voters,” said Troy Reeb, senior vice president of Global News.
The partnership won’t be limited to online; it will also extend to the broadcast side of Global News. Global’s election special, Decision Canada, which will be hosted by Global National’s Dawna Friesen and The West Block’s Tom Clark, will use “cutting-edge data visualization technology”.
The partnership will also allow special guests, including Twitter Canada’s Steve Ladurantaye, to immediately share their analysis of the results as they come in.
Ladurantaye recently partnered with Green Party Leader Elizabeth May as she responded to the Globe and Mail debate to which she was not invited.
In that case, May’s answers to debate questions were shared via video message on Twitter.
