ET Canada’s Natasha Gargiulo had the opportunity to sit down with the one and only Jason Bateman to talk about the making of Family Fangs and whether or not there is such thing as a perfect family.
The 46-year-old actor both directed and starred in the Toronto International Film Festival premiering flick that follows a brother and sister who return home in order to find their missing parents.

When asked if there was such thing as a perfect family, Bateman quickly responded,
“No, thank God. You know, the fact that there’s a lot of dysfunction in family sort of lends itself to its sort of relatability. Right? I mean everyone’s got something that’s a little bit wrong. Sometimes it funny, sometimes its dramatic, sort of those mistakes in the family. This sort of covers all that. Was fun territory to cover.”

“For me it’s easier because I don’t have to direct one of the actors,” Bateman told Natasha about his time directing and acting in the film.
“You know, that person is reading my mind for better or worse and doing it exactly the way I want him to do it, every time. It’s this seat… this perspective of being in front of the camera. I’m comfortable with it. I can tell that that camera is moving a little bit and I’ll wait… You know you can help the process a lot being in front of the camera.”
