CALGARY – The family of a young woman shot to death on 16th Avenue earlier this week is speaking out.
Calgary police identified 23-year-old Kallen Carothers as the woman killed in Wednesday’s shooting that happened in front of North Hill Centre.
When emergency crews arrived, they found Carother’s suffering from serious injuries, sitting in the driver’s seat of a white sedan.
The brazen attack involved “multiple shots” and took place in the intersection of 16 Avenue N.W. and 19 St N.W at around 11:15 p.m.
Paramedics rushed her to hospital in critical, life-threatening condition where she later died.
Police continue to investigate and are looking for a man who may have been injured in the attack.
The Carothers’ family released the following statement on Sunday afternoon, addressing alleged rumors about their daughter belonging to a gang and potentially being pregnant.
