Deal reached on Dorval’s ‘overpass to nowhere’

DORVAL – Transports Québec confirmed that it has reached an agreement in principle with CN and CP Rail over the Dorval overpass to nowhere.

The wait stems from a dispute between Transports Québec, CN and CP Rail.

The Transportation ministry started building the overpass before it had permission from the private railroad companies to install pillars on their land.

New designs will allow the overpasses to be built without getting in their way.

But, it seems motorists will still have a while to wait.

The Dorval overpass to Trudeau airport is expected to be completed by 2017 and work north of the tracks should be finished in 2019.

No timeline has been laid out for construction on the south side of the Dorval interchange project.

The original project was announced back in 2005 and was supposed to cost $150 million.

Recent estimates peg the current cost at $500 million.
