CALGARY – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has suspended the federal registration of an egg grading facility located east of Calgary.

The CFIA says sanitation and general building maintenance at the facility in Cluny, Alberta has not been “reliably implemented.”

In a release issued on Tuesday, the organization said the company had “failed to correct deficiencies previously identified through CFIA inspections.”

Due to the suspension, which was put in place on September 2, the Cluny Colony Egg Grading Facility will not be able to resume operations until the CFIA is confident they are able to effectively manage food safety risks.

Cluny is located about 100 km east of Calgary.
