Daytime fireballs are rare, as most meteors that enter our atmosphere aren’t bright enough to outshine the sun.
On Feb. 14, 2013, a fireball broke up over Chelyabinsk, Russia. Thousands of people were injured after the accompanying air burst shattered windows. What managed to make it to Earth was pulled out of a lake eight months later.
There were two reports of the fireball made to the American Meteor Society.
