CALGARY – The City of Calgary will be hosting an open house this week to discuss proposed new bike lanes in the city’s southwest.
The new bike lanes would be constructed on 20 Street S.W. between Langriville Drive and 20 Avenue S.W., which is already a signed bike route.

City officials hope the project would help improve the following:
- the road design to make walking, cycling, taking transit and driving safer, more predictable and accessible for all road users
- bicycle connectivity to the surrounding neighbourhoods, businesses and key destinations like North Glenmore Park and 17 Avenue S.W.
- the liveability of 20 Street S.W. through traffic calming
- Alberta on track to see the most traffic deaths in a decade: ‘Disaster waiting to happen’

Following the open house, the city will seek online feedback from September 11 to 17.
