A new member of the Saskatchewan legislature has been diagnosed with bone cancer.

Herb Cox, the Saskatchewan Party M-L-A for the Battlefords, says he plans to continue working but will be away from time to time for treatments.

The politician says the prognosis for recovery is good.

Cox was unsuccessful in his first run for office in the 2007 election, but defeated incumbent Len Taylor in last year’s vote.
