LETHBRIDGE- Federal candidates will face off at the Social Justice All Candidates Forum Wednesday night. Candidates will be debating social issues facing our community and our country.

Organizers say this is the first federal forum in Lethbridge that has focused specifically on social justice.  Cheryl Meheden with the NDP, Mike Pyne with the Liberals, Green Party candidate Kas MacMillan and Geoffrey Capp with the Christian Heritage Party are all scheduled to take part.

Conservative candidate Rachael Harder is the only candidate not taking part. She says with high demand for candidates to attend events during elections, she tries to choose the most effective forums to reach as many constituents as possible.

“Forums are set up in such a way that the candidates are given a chance to talk at your constituents, and the type of campaign that I’m running is one where I’m wanting to run on representation that talks with my constituents.  So, I’m actually looking at as many opportunities as I possibly can to engage them face to face,” said Harder

Harder says the only Lethbridge forum she will be attending is the Chamber of Commerce event October 6th, along with a forum in Monarch and another in Picture Butte.

The Social Justice All Candidates Forum starts at 7:00 p.m. at the Lethbridge Public Library Theatre.

The YWCA is hosting a forum focusing on gender equality at CASA October 1st, and SACPA has a forum scheduled for October 8 at the Public Library.
