PEACHLAND — One of two dogs that attacked and seriously injured dog in Peachland has been given a bit of a reprieve.

The attack occurred on January 1, leading to the death of a Llasha apso being walked by its owner, Jeff Clarke.

Due to the extent of his dog’s injuries, Clarke decided to humanely euthanize his pet after consulting with a veterinarian.

The dogs involved in the attack were seized by the Regional District of Central Okanagan.

One of dogs, a Presa Canario, was ordered to be destroyed while the other, an American Bulldog-Pitbull cross is being held until the owner can ensure that public safety concerns have been addressed.

The owner of the pitbull indicated in court Monday that he intends to appeal the judge’s ruling to have his dog destroyed. He has until September 14 to file the appeal.
