Man charged after shots allegedly fired on Saskatchewan First Nation

ONION LAKE FIRST NATION, Sask. – A Delmas, Sask. man is facing numerous charges after shots were allegedly fired on a First Nation. Mounties received numerous complaints that shots were being fired near the Onion Lake bus stop just after 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Police determined a 44-year-old man was thought to be the person responsible for firing the shots. A man matching his description was spotted walking on Chief Taylor Road around 3 a.m. Thursday.

He was taken into custody around 30 minutes later following a brief foot chase.

Todd William Rousseau, 44, is charged with three counts of discharging a firearm in a reckless manner with the intent to endanger life and two counts of uttering threats.

He is also charged with pointing a firearm, carrying a firearm for a dangerous purpose, possessing a firearm without a license and intoxication on a dry reserve.

Rousseau is scheduled to appear in Lloydminster provincial court on Monday.
