Gasbuddy.com was reporting the lowest price in the city was $90.9 at Costco stations Friday. Drivers filling up at stations like Esso, Husky, and Petro-Canada were paying between 94.9 and $96.4 per litre.

However, Canadian retail petroleum expert Dan McTeague predicted this week’s price break won’t continue. Prices will jump back up about two cents in Alberta in the coming days, he said.

The market is fast-moving, McTeague added. “Look south. What happens to the price of gasoline in the United States matters.”

Canadian prices are established in part by what the U.S. trading price for wholesale gas is, McTeague said. Oil prices have also unexpectedly shot higher.
