TORONTO – Amazon will soon offer alcohol delivery through its fast new delivery service, Prime Now.
The e-commerce giant announced Tuesday it will offer a selection of wine, beer and spirits to Prime members in the Seattle-area – and it will deliver it in 60 minutes or less.
Prime Now, which offers one and two hour delivery times for Amazon Prime members, launched in Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland this week. The delivery service is already offered in New York and is expected to roll out to other U.S. cities soon.
Alcohol delivery is currently only offered in the Seattle area.

“Prime Now is our fastest delivery option ever. With Prime Now, you can skip a trip to the store and get the items you need delivered right to your door in under an hour,” said Stephenie Landry, director of Prime Now, in a press release.
Amazon doesn’t release the number of Prime members it has, but analysts estimate there are around 40 million subscribers. Membership costs $99 per year.
Prime Now is not currently offered in Canada; however, free two-day shipping on some items is available.
