Police believe there was a verbal altercation between the occupants of the two vehicles prior to the incident.
RCMP said they located the black Mustang, which had damage from at least one bullet. Police seized the car and detained three male occupants. They are still searching for the silver Honda Civic.
Elsewhere, a fight at a house party spilled onto the street near 138 Street and 89a Avenue. Two men were rushed to hospital, one of whom was slashed. No arrests have been made in the slashing incident.
It appears the shooting incident is unrelated to the slashing.
