Airdrie RCMP are speaking out about the murder of Andrea Conroy.

The 33-year-old mother was found dead in her bayside-area home on February 24th.

RCMP revealed on Thursday that the young woman’s death was due to stab wounds.

While investigators would not comment on the death of her former boyfriend Rick Doucette, they do confirm there are no other suspects.

Nanton RCMP located Doucette dead in a hotel on February 25th after committing suicide, and RCMP say he was known to have previously been in a relationship with Conroy.

Officials say there has been no evidence to suggest Conroy was kept hostage for any period of time prior to her death.

RCMP are reassuring the public they take domestic and family violence very seriously and will investigate any allegation of family violence regardless of how the information is received.

Prior to this incident, The City of Airdrie approved funding for an additional Domestic Violence position for the RCMP to ensure that support and oversight into these investigations remains at a consistently high level as the City continues to grow.

Officers are reassuring residents that Airdrie is safe, despite several high profile incidents in the city in recent weeks.

There were reports a woman was sexually assaulted inside her own home by a stranger, and soon after, a two-day old baby was killed by an Airdrie family’s pet husky.
