WATCH ABOVE: Quebec is one of two provinces not offering refunds on water bottles and Coop Les Valoristes hopes to change that. Billy Shields reports.
MONTREAL – From all over the city, the bottles came streaming in — in shopping carts, in garbage bags, by bicycle.
Billed as Quebec’s first bottle depot, the Coop les Valoristes was giving out 5-cent refunds to “binners” who brought in water bottles on Saturday.
Quebec offers refunds on some cans and bottles, but it has never offered refunds on plastic water bottles.
The Coop hopes that by offering up refunds once a year, they can raise enough awareness to get the province to change the rules.
