Renovations force two-year closure of Union Station’s Bay Concourse

TORONTO – The revitalization of Toronto’s Union Station has forced the closure of the Bay Concourse for the next two years.

The concourse was officially closed on Sunday, Aug. 16.

GO Transit officials say the space will be expanded from 40,000 feet to more than 60,000 feet with modern elements such as new stairways, elevators and more retail options for commuters.

WATCH: Work begins on Bay Concourse

Riders are being told to use the newly renovated York Concourse for the duration of the construction work.

Union Station is currently undergoing a major revitalization project at a cost of $640 million with work to be completed by 2017-18.
