SASKATOON – The city of Saskatoon is about to grow. The city’s boundaries will expand on Sept. 1, 2015, enabling short-term urban growth to continue.
It will allow the City to do detailed land use and service plans prior to development of the land.
“The approved boundary alteration will enable continued growth of the City of Saskatoon, bring City-owned land and City infrastructure into City limits, and correct inconsistencies in the current City limits,” says Laura Hartney, the city’s regional planning manager.
The change will affect ratepayers in the Rural Municipality of Corman Park who are affected by the annexation, including property assessment and taxes.
Current zoning will remain in place until land is rezoned by the city. City bylaws, including pet and fire pit bylaws, will apply.

City officials say all affected ratepayers, who have been engaged in the process from the outset, will be receiving a brochure to ensure they have all the information they need for the transition.
“We want to ensure the transition is as smooth and positive as possible on all ends,” said Hartney.
The annexation has been approved by the Government of Saskatchewan after the city successfully negotiated with Corman Park and resolutions were passed by both councils.
