SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The international bridge linking the U.S. and Canadian cities of Sault Ste. Marie is about to show off its new energy-efficient lighting upgrade.
White lights atop the bridge’s three curved, steel arches have been replaced with coloured, energy-saving bulbs.

Electrical circuits feeding the arch lights have been off the past few weeks while the change was made.
The new lights will switch on Wednesday at 9 p.m. EDT. The public is invited to attend.
The lights on the Canadian side will be red and white. On the U.S. side they’ll be red, white and blue.
International Bridge Authority General Manager Phil Becker says the new system will improve the bridge’s appearance while reducing energy usage and maintenance costs.
