Winnipeg astronomer gives tips to catch the annual Perseids meteor shower

WINNIPEG — Stargazers are in for a treat when the sun goes down Wednesday night.

The annual Perseids meteor shower is expected to be even more impressive this year.

Scott Young, an astronomer at the Manitoba Museum, said that is because the moon is out of the sky meaning it won’t be as bright.

If you want a good view of the show, Young said it is best to head as far away from the city light as possible.

He also said the best time look to the sky is just after midnight.
