Federal Election 2015: Humber River-Black Creek riding results

Summary: Humber River-Black Creek is the new name for the riding of York West. Liberal MP Judy Sgro, who has represented this riding since 1999, is seeking re-election.

Boundaries: While the name has changed, this is one of the few ridings in the Toronto area that did not see any boundary adjustments.  It includes an area on either side of Highway 400 up to Steeles Avenue. Neighbourhoods here include Humber Summit, Northwood Park, Glenfield-Jane Heights, and Pelmo Park-Humberlea. York University is also in this riding.

Last Election: Sgro defeated the NDP’s Giulio Manfrini by 5,309 votes, a margin of nearly 20 per cent.

History: This riding has been Liberal since 1962, beginning with Hockey Hall of Famer Red Kelly, who pulled double duty between 1962 and 1965 as centreman for the Toronto Maple Leafs and MP for York West.

Demographics: The average income is $26,093 (as of the 2011 National Household Survey), lowest in Ontario.
