Summary: One of the few ridings in Ontario the Conservatives won by a narrow margin in 2011, Conservative MP Peter Braid seeks re-election in Waterloo.
Boundaries: An urban seat, the Waterloo electoral district includes all of the city of Waterloo and the Bridgeport neighbourhood of Kitchener.
Last Election: Formerly known as Kitchener-Waterloo, Braid defeated former five-term Liberal MP Andrew Telegdi by 3.2 per cent—a much larger margin than 2008, when he defeated him by just 17 votes.

The riding has lost some of northwest Kitchener through redistribution, but had it existed with its current boundaries in 2011, the Conservatives would have taken it by 3.1 per cent more votes than the Liberals (based on polling results), almost the same margin.
History: Prior to Braid’s victory, Telegdi had held this riding since 1993. Before that, it had been held by PC MP Walter McLean from 1979 to 1993, although it was a much more rural riding then.
Demographics: The average income as of the 2011 National Household Survey was $49,172, highest in the Tri-Cities region.
