Summary: This riding is one to watch. Conservative MP Jay Aspin defeated the three-term Liberal incumbent Anthony Rota by just 18 votes in 2011—and the two are facing off again in this election.
Boundaries: This riding sees only minor boundary changes in this election. The most significant impact is that it reunites the entire Nipissing 10 First Nation within the riding. The community had been split in two in the last boundary redistribution in 2003.
Last Election: As noted above, Conservative Aspin defeated Liberal Rota by 18 votes. If the current riding boundaries were in effect in 2011, Liberal Rota would have won by 36 votes.
History: This riding was created in 2004. Rota won that year, and was re-elected by comfortable margins in 2006 and 2008.
