Boundaries: This riding includes the eastern portion of Markham, as well as the town of Whitchurch-Stouffville. These areas were formerly represented by Markham-Unionville and Oak Ridges-Markham.
Last Election: If this riding existed in 2011, the Conservatives would have earned 50.5 per cent of the vote, followed by the Liberals with 29.0 per cent.
History: Oak Ridges-Markham, which makes up the lion’s share of this new riding, was Liberal from 2004 until 2008, when Calandra was elected. Markham-Unionville, which contributed only a small portion of this new riding, has elected Liberal John McCallum in every election since 2004.
