Summary: Conservative MP Phil McColeman seeks re-election in Brantford-Brant, a riding with both urban and rural elements. This riding is a smaller version of the former Brant riding.

Boundaries: Comprising the town of Brantford and the county of Brant surrounding it, this mixed urban-rural riding includes the Six Nations and New Credit reserves. The riding has lost a small bit of area at its north and western ends through redistribution.

Last Election: McColeman defeated NDP candidate Marc Laferriere by 20.4 per cent. Laferriere is running again in 2015.

History: Brantford-Brant has elected candidates from all major parties through the years. It was held by the Liberals from 1993 to 2008 under MPs Jane Stewart and Lloyd St. Amand, and was held by NDP MP Derek Blackburn from 1971 to 1993.

Demographics: Its population as of 2011 was 132,320, highest of all 338 seats in Canada. 9.9 per cent of people identified as Aboriginal in the 2011 National Household Survey, the highest in southern Ontario.
