NEAR REVELSTOKE — A 54-year-old Revelstoke woman has been taken to hospital after a two-vehicle accident on Highway 1 about 30 kilometres west of Revelstoke.

The accident, which happened around 9 o’clock Tuesday morning, closed the Trans Canada at the Enchanted Forest turn-off for about three hours.

“A westbound car from Edmonton, Alberta was in the process of negotiating a left-hand turn into the Enchanted Forest when it was rear-ended by a westbound Jeep Cherokee from B.C.,” says Cpl. Thomas Blakney with Revelstoke RCMP.

Blakney says four people in the car were not injured, however, the woman in the Jeep was hurt.

“As a result, B.C. Air Ambulance Services air-lifted the female to hospital,” says Blakney. “[She] is in stable condition.”

Blakney says RCMP and the Southeast District Traffic Services are investing the accident and any possible charges.
