Candlelight vigil held for Calgary man who died in balcony fall

CALGARY – More than 100 people gathered at a candlelight vigil for a young man who fell to his death from an apartment building in Killarney.

Harman Boparai, 23, tumbled over a friend’s sixth-storey balcony in the 1900 block of 25A Street S.W. on August 7.

On Monday, friends and family gathered at the apartment to pay tribute to Boparai.

The young man was a student at Mount Royal University where he studied business.

Calgary’s Medical Examiner ruled the incident an accident, but police are still investigating what led to the fall.
