EDMONTON — A 28-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision in northeast Edmonton Monday night. It happened just before 6:30 p.m. at the three-intersection of 82 Street and Schonsee Way.

Police say a Grey Chevrolet Silverado pickup driving west made a left turn, colliding with a northbound motorcycle on 82 Street NW. The male rider was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries. The driver of the truck was uninjured.

The Edmonton Police Service Major Collisions Unit is investigating and charges are pending. Police do not believe alcohol or speed contributed to the crash.

“I think what you have to recognize is that this is just an unfortunate set of circumstances,” said Insp. Regan James with Edmonton Police.

“I certainly don’t think the driver of the truck in any way meant for this to happen. It’s just a very, very sad result.”
