Summary: The NDP had never earned more than 10 per cent of the vote in this riding, until 2011, when Paulina Ayala defeated the three-term Liberal incumbent, Pablo Rodriguez. The two will face off again in this election.

Boundaries: This eastern Montreal riding includes Anjou, part of Riveres-des-Prairies—Pointe-aux-Trembles, and part of Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. It sees small boundary changes for 2015.

Last Election: NDP Ayala defeated Liberal Rodriguez by 2,904 votes. Had the current boundaries been in effect, the NDP win would have been by just 773 votes.

History: This riding was a Liberal stronghold from 1997 until the NDP victory in 2011.

Demographics: 8.1 per cent of residents in this riding were born in Italy of the 2011 National Household Survey.
