Brandon golf course to finally reopen after 2014 flood

WINNIPEG — The record breaking floods in Manitoba a year ago caused hundreds of millions of dollars worth of damage.

The Assiniboine River spilled its banks after heavy rainfall – forcing hundreds of residents out of their homes. A province-wide state of emergency was declared during the floods and Brandon, Manitoba was one of the hardest hit communities. The military was also called in to help with sandbagging efforts.

The Wheat City Golf Course in Brandon was mostly underwater during the floods but after extensive repairs is scheduled to reopen this Friday August 14. A year later, they’ve recovered from the damages caused by the devastating floods.
