MONTREAL – Marc-André Gadoury, who was a member of Montreal’s official opposition party, Projet Montréal, has decided to cross the floor.

Mayor Denis Coderre made the announcement with Gadoury by his side on Thursday.

“It’s good news for Montrealers,” said Coderre.

Gadoury agreed, saying he didn’t see it as leaving the party, rather as him joining Coderre.

He had been involved with Project Montréal since its founding in 2004.

He is currently the city councillor for Rosemont—La-Petite-Patrie.
