Montreal taxi drivers to adhere to dress code

MONTREAL – Taxi drivers going to and from the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport will have to begin adhering to a “business casual” dress code as of this fall.

That means a collared shirt or polo with dress pants and proper shoes; t-shirts, shorts and flip flops or sandals will no longer be allowed.

The airport’s advisory and discipline committee said drivers will also have to make sure their vehicles are less than four years old, otherwise they won’t be eligible to apply for a permit to the airport.

That’s down from the original cut-off of five years.

There are currently about 300 drivers doing the airport run and the selection is chosen by an annual lottery.

The dress code aims to project a cleaner image to people arriving in the city.
