MONTREAL – Police responded to a 911 call Thursday night concerning a man who was found in cardiac arrest in downtown Montreal.

Officers arrived at an apartment on the corner of Sainte-Catherine Street Est and Montcalm Street around 10:45 p.m.

They found a 34-year-old man.

“His death was noted by Urgences-Santé, but some elements on the scene left signs that it could be related to a suspicious death,” said Manuel Couture with the Montreal police.

Around 3 a.m., authorities found a 30-year-old man near the scene.

He was taken into custody “and is considered an important witness,” said Couture.

Officers will speak to him later on in the day.

Major crime scene investigators are working to determine the events leading up to the man’s death.
