EDMONTON — For weeks, several gas stations in Edmonton have been without fuel. Shell continues to blame work being done at the Scotford Refinery.
“We’re still conducting unplanned maintenance at the Scotford Refinery which, along with high customer demand during the summer driving season, has resulted in more than half of our stations in Edmonton running out of fuel,” explained Cameron Yost, a Shell spokesperson, in an email to Global News.

On July 7, Edmonton drivers started noticing a number of Shell stations were closed due to fuel shortages.

The company said at that time there were 32 stations in Edmonton, only 10 of which had fuel and five more were running low.
On Friday, Shell confirmed there were no updates.
“While we don’t have a timeline for when the shortages will be resolved, we are doing everything we can to refill stations that have run out of fuel,” said Yost.
“We know this is an inconvenience for customers and we appreciate their patience as we diligently work to address these temporary shortages.”
