Charges laid in fatal truck rollover on Carry the Kettle First Nation

CARRY THE KETTLE FIRST NATION, Sask. – A 25-year-old Saskatchewan man has been charged after a fatal rollover on July 19. Police were called to the crash on the Carry the Kettle First Nation south of Sintaluta, Sask.

File Hills First Nations Police Service believe two passengers were ejected from the truck during a multiple rollover.

Cammy Jessica Spencer, 21, of Carry the Kettle First Nation, and Sterling Byron Hotain, 20, of Manitoba, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other passengers were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The 25-year-old driver of the truck was treated for injuries at the scene.

Initial investigation led police to believe that alcohol was a factor in the rollover.

Adrian Cappo, 25, of Carry the Kettle First Nation, is facing two charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death. He was expected to appear in Indian Head court Tuesday.

Police say further charges are pending as the investigation is still ongoing.
