Calgary police charge second man in weekend murder at house party

Calgary police have charged an 18-year-old man with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of another 18-year-old man at a house party in the city’s northwest on Sunday.

The arrest of Jesse Sky Copenace is the second in the case in less than 24 hours. A 17-year-old, who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested and charged on Monday.

Officers were called to a residence in the 4000 block of 19 Street N.W. at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday after reports of a man in medical distress.

The victim, 18-year-old Levi Marance of Red Deer, was rushed to hospital but died a short time later.
