Toronto bank robbery suspect arrested in Nova Scotia

TORONTO – Toronto police say a 47-year-old man wanted in connection to four city-area bank robberies was arrested in Atlantic Canada last week.

Police say William Richard Turner, nicknamed the “Well-Dressed Bandit”, was arrested on July 14 in Sydney, Nova Scotia and faces two counts of armed robbery and two counts of robbery.

The armed robberies occurred last fall between Oct. 23 to Nov. 10, 2014 at banks located in Etobicoke, downtown Toronto and mid-town Toronto.

In three of the four robberies, the male suspect handed over a note to the teller demanding money and an undisclosed amount of cash was given.

In each case, the suspect indicated he had a gun.

Police say the suspect wore a suit and tie for his first robbery but was seen wearing a hoodie or sweat shirt in subsequent crimes.

A $10,000 reward was offered for his arrest in March. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
