TORONTO — Former The Young and the Restless star Thom Bierdz is playing the prince in an unlikely Cinderella story after a prowler left his shoes behind during an attempted break-in.

The 53-year-old, who played Phillip Chancellor on the daytime drama in the late ’80s, came face-to-face with an intruder late Saturday night at his home in Lake Arrowhead, Calif.

“I walk to back door and flip on outdoor light and shine flashlight on an intruder reaching for the knob,” he recalled in a Facebook post. The prowler ran away and Bierdz called 911.

But the would-be thief, who ransacked Bierdz’s car before attempting to enter the house, left his shoes — size 8 or 9 — behind.

Since nothing was stolen, police did not take the shoes. Bierdz shared a photo of the suspect’s sneakers and jokingly vowed to track down the barefoot bandit.

“I will be having all the men in the world try on these shoes,” he joked.
