Icy sidewalks cause one Montreal area resident to sue the city

DORVAL – Icy conditions over the past winter have led a woman from Dorval to start proceedings against the city.

Dorval resident Procesa Gladysz is claiming that the conditions of the city streets caused her to slip, fall and injure herself in 2010.

She alleges that in December 2010, when she was on her way to work, she slipped and fell on Cloverdale Street.

This road in Dorval has no sidewalks and Gladysz claims that it was icy and there was no salt or sand.

As a result of the accident, she was in hospital with a fractured wrist and arm.

Her lawyer François Audet claims that the situation comes down to negligence when the the city have not maintained its sidewalks within a reasonable period of time.

Gladysz is suing Dorval for $150,000 in damages and her lawyer suggests that others in her situation should consider similar action.
