Sask. man admits to role in fatal Canada Day ATV crash

KAMSACK, Sask. – A man from the Cote First Nation has pleaded guilty to three charges after a fatal accident earlier this month in east-central Saskatchewan involving a stolen all-terrain vehicle. Brandon Cote, 18, died from injuries suffered in the crash that happened early July 1 in Kamsack.

Cote was also a resident of Cote First Nation.

RCMP have said that he and two other males had been on the ATV, which an off-duty officer had noticed being driven erratically before the accident.

One rider later approached the officer and said a passenger had been hurt, and police later discovered that the ATV had been taken from a property near Madge Lake.

Kaylon Tourngeau-Genaille, 18, pleaded guilty Wednesday to dangerous driving, break and enter and possession of stolen property.

He will be sentenced Sept. 22 in Canora.
