Alberta cop facing another assault charge in separate incident

EDMONTON — An Alberta RCMP officer has been charged with assault dating back to an alleged incident in 2012.

Const. Eric Pomerleau has been charged with one count of Common Assault following a complaint submitted to the RCMP regarding an incident on Dec. 17, 2012 involving a person in police custody at the Red Deer Detachment.

Pomerleau is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 18.

On June 19th, Pomerleau was also charged in a separate incident with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and common assault. The charges stem from an incident that happened in Aug. 2012, involving a person in police custody in Red Deer.

He is on administrative duties at another Alberta detachment.
