EDMONTON — A one-year member with the Edmonton Police Service was charged Tuesday with three counts of assault in connection with an incident at a nightclub on Nov. 13, 2014.

The charges against Const. Eric Vezina stem from an “off-duty incident at a nightclub,” police said.

Vezina has been relieved from duty without pay.

Before the charges were laid, the incident was investigated by the EPS Professional Standards Branch. Then, that investigation was reviewed by Alberta Justice.

The EPS said, because the matter is before the courts, it won’t provide any other information on the file or provide further comment.
