SICAMOUS — More details are emerging about a deadly boating accident on Shuswap Lake that claimed the life of a 22-year-old Alberta woman Friday.
Sicamous RCMP said the incident happened about 15 kilometres north of the community at Cinnemousun Narrrows.
Police say the young victim was swimming behind a houseboat when it reversed over her. She was hit by the propeller and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Eleven people were on board at the time of the accident, many of them the victim’s family members.
The victim has been identified by the B.C. Coroner’s office as Andrea Mary Jacura of Edmonton.
There was another fatal boating accident in the province over the weekend.
A 41-year-old man died and another man was injured when their boat flipped and broke apart after it appeared to hit a wave at high speed on Sproat Lake on Vancouver Island.
