BATTLEFORD, Sask. – Five youth are facing charges after a Saskatchewan crime spree. The charges include arson, vehicle theft, and break and enter.

The five were arrested on July 9 after Mounties received a complaint they were walking away from a stolen vehicle in Battleford.

Police say they had several stolen items in their possession.

Further investigation found that several of the youth may be connected to a string of vehicle thefts, break and enters, and an arson.

Mounties say a vehicle was stolen in North Battleford on July 8 and later recovered in the Glaslyn area, where two other vehicles were stolen.

The youth are also alleged to have broken into three residences in the Glaslyn area. One residence was destroyed after being set on fire.

Four of the youth have made court appearances in North Battleford provincial court and remain in custody.

The fifth youth has been released for a court appearance at a later date.

Mounties say further charges are pending as they continue their investigation.
