Around 5 p.m., police say a 26-year-old woman was walking in the ravine, near 76 Avenue and 95 Street, when she was approached from behind by a man with a knife.

The woman was forced into a treed area and the man reportedly attempted to sexually assault her. When the woman screamed for help, a person in the area came to her assistance. The suspect then ran off into the ravine. The EPS Canine Unit was called in, but was unable to track the suspect.

“We believe there were a number of people using the trails in the river valley at the time of the attempted assault,” said Det. Andrew Larson with the EPS Sexual Assault Section. “We’re looking to speak with anyone who may have information about the incident or the suspect.”
