Tele-marketers not associated to Vernon RCMP

VERNON – The Mounties in the north Okanagan want people to know the RCMP is not involved in a recent fund-raising campaign by the Canadian Police Association.

The association has hired a tele-marketing firm to solicit money for its national, anti-bullying educational program.

“It appears the tele-marketers, on some occasions, have implied the RCMP is involved in the campaign, which we are not,” says Vernon RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk. “Several local residents who have called our office have said the tele-marketers are quite pushy in their attempts to get people to support the campaign.”
