SASKATOON – Firefighters had to battle two fires in Saskatoon Monday morning. Both fires are suspicious in nature.

The second call came in at 5:49 a.m. at a house under renovation at 338 Ave. J South.

Black smoke was visible for several blocks and crews arrived to find the house fully involved and a power line was arching.

Crews were able to confirm that no one was inside once they were able to undertake a search that had to be delayed for several minutes due to the intensity of the flames and the structural integrity of the building being compromised due to the renovations.

It took firefighters 25 minutes to bring the fire under control. Crews remained on the scene until 7:40 a.m. to deal with spot fires in the attic.

Damage is estimated at $75,000.

No injuries were reported in either fire.
