Cartier Avenue draws ire in Pointe-Claire

WATCH ABOVE: Avenue Cartier is the gateway to the Pointe-Claire Yacht Club and the Pointe-Claire Village and some residents are upset over what they say is poor maintenance of a major Pointe-Claire street. Billy Shields reports.

POINTE-CLAIRE – A petition has been submitted by angry residents to the municipal council complaining that poor maintenance is creating intolerable noise on Cartier Avenue.

Rick Guy lives on the corner of Kamouraska and Cartier. He says he has complained to the city repeatedly, and signed the petition.

Municipal councillor Claude Cousineau told Global News in an email that commenting on the issue would be premature until it’s discussed in council.

Residents generally make two critiques: first that the road was never designed to handle the traffic that’s currently on it. Two, Guy said:

The road is the gateway to the Point-Claire Yacht Club and the Pointe-Claire Village. It also links the A-20 to some popular nightspots.

Pointe-Claire’s council will discuss the matter Tuesday.
